Tornado Light Sculpture
MM in collaboration with fabric structures designer and holistic practitioner, Soo-Hwa Yuan designed and built a 25' diameter tornado light sculpture for Ruby Skye, a premiere Nightclub and Special Event Venue located in the heart of downtown San Francisco for a Halloween event with a Wizard of Oz theme.
Materials: 8 rolled aluminum rectangular tubing sections mechanically bolted with radially-tensioned galvanized cables, turnbuckle and swage fittings, hung 30' high from the ceiling over an existing rotating disco ball. Soo tailored and draped a tapering fabric form over the ring. Lighting techs projected images on the spinning form.
